Another 2 week break since the American GP has given the riders plenty to fill their time with. Here’s all the news and updates you may have missed over April.
The VR46 dynasty continues
Marta Vincenzi and Luca Marini announced on instagram last week that they are expecting their first child together.
The couple, who got married last summer, jointly posted a picture of Marta’s stomach along with some ultrasound images. Luca will become the 7th rider on the MotoGP grid to welcome a child, after Jack and Ruby Miller bought baby Pip into the world last September.

Marc shares the love
Marc Marquez celebrated the next generation of sporting talent this week, when he presented the Breakthrough Award at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid.
Marc was joined on stage with Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz, who presented the award to English footballer, Jude Bellingham.

Rivalries taken to the next level
In a somewhat unusual instagram post on Wednesday (25th April), MotoGP Legend Jorge Lorenzo challenged old rival Dani Pedrosa to a boxing match.
The post was captioned (translated from Spanish) “After our differences, both on and off track, the time has come to face each other in the ring. @26_danipedrosa I challenge you, do you accept? 🥊🥊🥊”
Things took a more confusing turn, when a few hours later, Dani Pedrosa accepted the challenge, with a cheeky “I can’t deny the temptation to give you a slap”.
Whilst nothing is confirmed yet, it does seem likely this could happen. It is expected to be a charity match held in Spain.

Looking ahead…
This weekend we head back to Europe for the Spanish GP in Jerez. There are no injuries, as we look forward to having another fully-fit grid- something that feels like a luxury after last years spate of withdrawals.
Jorge Martín still leads the championship, with a 21-point-lead over Ducati’s Enea Bastianini. Pecco Bagnaia will need to start pulling out the stops if he wants to stop Martín running away with the lead too soon.
Pedro Acosta will of course be looking to make history as the youngest race winner, continuing his 2-race streak of podium positions.
The grid will be a bit more crowded this week, as we welcome wildcard rides for KTM, Aprilia, and Honda. Fan favourite Dani Pedrosa will be joined by Lorenzo Salvadori and Stefan Bradl in a testing capacity.
